It's a small town and rumors fly...so I thought it was time to clear the air.
My experience as a chef has taken me all over, but in 2013, I was finally ready to settle my family in my hometown and start a whole new adventure: a restaurant of my own. We opened District Table & Bar at Willoughby Crossroads in the spring of that year. Many people said Stuart wasn't ready for this kind of restaurant so I'm thankful to all our fans who've proven them wrong.
Since we opened, I've had many offers to open additional locations all over the country, but we wanted to keep it local and rooted close to home. Last year I was approached with the opportunity to move the restaurant to a custom built space in Port Salerno. After 4 years in our tiny kitchen I decided we were ready for some more elbow room. District Table & Bar will be moving to a new building with the same name, same menu, same-ahem-chef, same staff, but with some welcome additions. It will be closer to my original vision of District and still the District you know and love.
Besides a kitchen that's twice as big, it will be equipped with a wood-fired oven, dedicated wok station and expanded raw bar so you'll see some exciting new offerings on the menu.
The quieter dining room will have 30% more seating, including outdoor seating and a full bar. The building was once a bank and still has a large vault which we're converting into a dining room for private parties. We plan to take more reservations too.
All this is literally a work in progress; being built as we speak. As progress is made we'll update this page to show you. In the meantime, rumors will still fly so please check back to hear it directly from the chef's mouth.
Thanks for being fans and supporting our local family restaurant.
